Put Your Vows Before Your Feelings

Do you write your own vows? My husband and I didn't. However when he proposed he wrote me a letter to keep. Which I cherish and look back on from time to time. I am so thankful for that letter. If you didn't write your own vows. Your vows may have went a little something like this:

"I, ___, take you, ___, for my lawful wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and health, until death do us part."

"I, ___, take you, ___, to be my husband/wife. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love and honor you all the days of my life."

Did you catch that? For better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness and in health. In good times and in bad, I will honor and love you all the days of my life. In my short 5 years of marriage my husband and I have encountered all of these things. We have struggled financially, we have helped each other through sickness and surgeries, we have had many good times and certainly many bad times. Marriage is certainly like a rollercoaster. With many highs and many lows. It's an exciting ride thats for sure. When in doubt. Look back to those vows and remember what you vowed to each other, and keep loving each other.
